Summer update
A few updates - I was originally scheduled to sing at the Beavers game on May 4th, but it got rained out. Then I was scheduled for June 12th, but then the scheduler called back and said she had made a mistake and that June 12th was already booked. I am now scheduled to sing at the August 4th game.
I learned to knit earlier in the year and have been knitting and felting bags for the past few months. My neighbor and I are going to have a table at Multnomah Days (a street fair in a nearby hamlet) in mid-August and see if we can make some sales!
Ben and I drove to his Dad's house in eastern Washington on the Columbia River. We made the drive there on June 13th, which was the two year anniversary of our arrival in Portland - we were driving some of the same roads by which we made the drive in that day, so it was kind of neat. Plus, driving right along the river is just amazing when it's clear. We drove back yesterday, so it was a short trip, but we went out on the boat yesterday morning and Ben water-skied for the first time in a long time.

We're discontinuing our home phone service
Just wanted to warn you guys - we are able to save a little money on our bill this way, and we almost always end up using our mobile phones anyway. So, the 503 946 number will be disconnected sometime in the next two days! Yay!!

Harry's Dream
This morning Harry told me, "A horse came into Mama and Papa's bedroom! It was yellow. I jumped up on its back, and you jumped up onto its back, and we rode it. It went to the carousel and we rode with the other horses in the carousel. Meghan and Meghan's grandma came, too."
He's now in his own room (Harry and Bailey will share a bedroom this summer and Oliver will be in his own bedroom; next summer we plan to do a little restructuring of our downstairs so that Oliver and Bailey will each have their own bedroom). It was interesting transitioning him to sleeping in a different room but not as hard as I thought - probably harder on John and me than on Harry! But he seems to like having his own room now, and being able to get in and out of his toddler bed... although in the middle of the night, I think he still thinks he's in his crib, because he just yells, "MAMA" until I come get him. :)

More Harryisms, and a Meghanism
This morning, Harry came into our bed about 6am and snuggled up to me. At some point, I apparently did something he didn't like, because I woke up to him saying, "If you don't stop that right now, I'm going to be really mad at you. I'm going to say you are a girl, you are a girl and your name is not Harry Potter. Your name is Mama." I felt suitably chastened...
He's potty-training, and at school they have him say good-bye to whatever is in the toilet that he's flushing away... sometimes he says good-bye to the toilet paper. A few days ago he thought he had to go but couldn't, but he still wanted to flush. So he said, "Good-bye, nothing!"
One day I noticed that Harry's daily report from day care showed that he had eaten all of his lunch except the peas. I said, "Harry, why didn't you eat your peas today? You love peas!" He said, "Not at school."
Yesterday after I picked Harry up from day care, Harry was playing with Meghan, one of the kids in his class. They started to tip over the dish of food that the day care center leaves out for the birds. Meghan's mom said, "Okay, you know you're not supposed to do that, so it's time to go to the car. Move it!" Meghan picked up the dish of food and put it down about six inches away from where it had been, and said, "Okay, Mom, I moved it."

Singing in public
Hi guys! I auditioned a few weeks ago to sing the National Anthem at a baseball game at PGE park and they called me today to ask me to sing on May 4th! ;) Hooray! Don't know too much more than that so far, but I'm excited!

I'm okay, you're okay!
Hey all - I just wanted to let you guys know I'm doing fine. I haven't had much in the way of job nibbles, but I'm not getting too down about it. I'm knitting and reading and catching up on movies and playing Rock Band with the neighbors. Sorry I haven't been great about keeping in touch - there just hasn't been much news to share.
